As humans, we're programmed to mimic others - it's how we learn to walk, talk and be in the world.

But when we start to mask and mirror because we don't feel like we can connect with people, or because we fear rejection, that can be bad for our mental health and wellness.

We begin to hide who we truly are and that leads to anxiety and depression.

Hi! I'm Maria Gaian. I'm autistic and for years I masked and mirrored in an attempt to fit in with other people. 

I grew up in an abusive household where it wasn't safe for me to voice opinions or be my true self.
 
 I'd often be called a liar because I'd say different things depending on who I was with.  
In my mind I wasn't lying, I was just trying to make friends and please people.
But it always backfired and I'd end up rejected.

It's taken me a long time to realise that masking and mirroring was a great survival tool for me, but it also left me anxious and depressed.
I had to change things. 

In this program I'm going to share with you how you can stop masking and mirroring and start becoming Wildly Autistic. 

Being a Wildly Autistic Woman means being who you are, no matter what.

It means loving and accepting yourself as you are and expecting others to do the same.

And if they don't - it's their loss.

You should never live a lie, hiding yourself or being ashamed or embarrassed about being autistic.

You are NOT broken or disordered or disabled by autism.

You may face challenges in life, but you don't have to let those challenges define you or make you feel 'less than' or not good enough.

You are perfectly imperfect and you are good enough because you are. 

It's time to stop masking and mirroring to please other people and start being authentically YOU, so you can feel healthy, happy, and whole.
